Andrew J. Assini is a dynamic speaker, author, and educator, deeply rooted in his own personal journey of long-term recovery spanning over 18 years. With a rich background as a mental health professional and licensed addictions counselor, Drew has dedicated over twelve years to working in mental health and addiction treatment. His clinical expertise is complemented by his role as a seasoned college professor, where he has taught a broad spectrum of psychology, counseling, and human services courses in both graduate and undergraduate programs across the country for more than a decade.
In his talks, Drew is known for his authentic and animated presence, making complex topics both accessible and engaging. His sessions are not only informative but also interactive, filled with humor and practical insights that resonate with his audiences. Whether he is discussing the nuts and bolts of mental health, the intricacies of recovery, or the broader aspects of personal growth, Drew’s approach is both enlightening and empowering. Larry is the author of multiple literary award-winning book, “A Tail of Love: Life Lessons from Scrappy, a Pet Therapy Dog” and a frequent speaker. Larry’s passion for pet therapy has led him to become a national advocate for pet therapy and its use in addressing mental health concerns. The founder of Delta Omega Gamma, Campus Life Pet Therapy, Larry now speaks about the many advantages of pet therapy in addressing a wide array of mental health issues including anxiety, discrimination, engagement, inclusion, conflict resolution, and suicidal tendencies.
